Changing properties and using moving tiles in the New Level Editor

Note: this tutorial is out of date. You can use the concepts from this tutorial, combined with this tutorial http://gamefroot.com/knowledgebase/move-it-physics-movement-and-the-constantly-loop/ to recreate this.

Howdy folks! We’ve had a few questions from people familiar with the old level editor asking how to do basic things in the new editor. There’s really only one thing you need to know: Right-click!

Instead of having special tools to do different tasks, we have made all the basics available by right-clicking on a specific tile, item, or character.

  • Want to change an item’s behavior? Right-click the item and select Behaviors (this tile).

  • Want to alter a character’s properties? Right-click the character and select Player/Enemy Properties.

  • Want a moving tile? Right-click on the tile, and select Convert to moving tile!

  • To have a moving tile activated by a switch, place down a switch tile, click the green icon and select the moving tile to connect it to the switch.

We’ve decided to consolidate all of the basic functionality inside the right-click menu to reduce clicks, save user’s time, and de-clutter the interface. And it just made more sense! Don’t forget that the new Game Creator is still a beta release, so you might encounter some small bugs (there shouldn’t be anything completely broken).

So what do you guys think about the new Gamefroot Game Creator? We love hearing from you! Post comments below, or hit us up on TwitterFacebook, and the support page.

Thanks guys!
