gamefroot-release-114

Now you can conveniently upload animated sequences as a single ZIP file. Fire up the level editor to give it a try!

The most recent changes to Gamefroot in version 1.1.4 are:

  • Features:
    • Import animation from ZIP file
    • Forced level editor files to load only when required

  • Fixes:
    • Can now use Play/Pause buttons and Previous/Next buttons to preview animation and cycle through frames in the Animation Editor
    • Can now rename sequences in the Animation Editor

How to upload your animation as a ZIP file

To easily import your animated sequences in a single file, you must first create the correct file structure to contain your sequences of images. Here’s an example ZIP file for you to download and copy.

Output your animations to single frame PNG files with the same width and height. The image names should follow the pattern “sequenceName_001.png”, and each separate animation sequence will require its own folder named accordingly, with the images belonging to that sequence inside that folder. Also note that one of your sequences must be named “idle”.

Once you’ve created the proper file structure, compress the folders into a single ZIP file and open the Gamefroot level editor.

Click My Resources to view your asset packs, and then click on the pack you’d like to import your animation to.  Click “Create new assets”, select “Animated item…”, then click “Import from ZIP…”

Browse to the ZIP file on your computer, then hit Upload.

Once it’s done, the upload window will close and the Animation Editor window will open with all your frames and sequences loading in.

It may take a few seconds to fully populate with all your images, but don’t worry, you can close this window before everything has loaded and your animation will still be uploaded to your pack.
