Gamefroot just got better. Go and see! The most recent changes to Gamefroot in version 1.8 are:
- Features:
- Easily drag objects around your level with the move tool
- Gamefroot loading times reduced with streamlined loading of relevant assets pack
- Saved backgrounds can now be edited from asset packs via My Resources
- Fixes:
- Important script editor blocks fixed and ptentially buggy blocks marked with alert icons
- Top-down player characters can again be placed normally
- Custom weapons size restrictions fixed
- Dungeon Passages template added back in (removed temporarily due to moving tiles bug)
The new move tool feature allows you to reposition any object in the level editor by dragging it around. Makes it easy-peasy to tweak your level designs.
You can now edit backgrounds you’ve made since their inclusion in the 1.7 update. Open My Resources, click on a pack, and then click on the background you want to edit. Now you can tweak the position and speed of the different layers if you weren’t happy with the values you set when you created the background.
We’ve made a number of optimizations to speed up loading times in Gamefroot.
- when the level editor loads, it only loads the core packs
- when My Resources is opened, it shows the packs and doesn’t pre-load their contents
- when a pack is opened, only then are it’s contents loaded
- when a pack has it’s contents changed, only that pack is reloaded
Here is an image (click to enlarge) with all the current script editor blocks listed (blocks with asterisks are potentially buggy, and are marked with alert icons in the script editor):
We’ve fixed the majority of the buggy script blocks, and some of the games we’ve been making recently have shown off how versatile gamefroot can be when you take full advantage of the script editor.
