We believe that those who learn to code and create digital content from a young age are better prepared for the future of work and careers in the games industry. We want to thank you for coming on this journey with us, and allowing us to support you.
After over a decade of being almost totally free, Gamefroot has added a new subscription model. We love seeing people learn about coding and game design. This shift allows us to continue our mission and to keep improving the Gamefroot experience, and to make game creation more accessible and fun for years to come.
Subscribers will benefit from the following improvements:
- New groups / classroom functionality
- New game art added to our assets marketplace
- New VIP support channel
To enable us to thrive as a business and add more features and content to the platform, the subscription price for Gamefroot Premium will be $7 per seat (student / person) for a three month period (a school term in New Zealand).
Existing users will always have access to their existing games and projects. However, to access the new features and updates after 15 days, you will need to subscribe.
Premium users will have unrestricted access to Marketplace packs, tutorials, and the ability to create and manage clubs.
Free users will have restricted access to the fundamentals of Gamefroot. The Platformer 101 tutorial, Ngā Tākaro pack, and Gamefroot Classic pack will remain available to free users, but all other extra content will be restricted. There will also be an upper limit on the size of non-premium user games.

Why are you raising costs?
In order to be able to keep up with our server costs, paying staff to improve Gamefroot and add new features to further streamline and improve your experience, this is a necessary step to take.
What is the new price going to be?
The new base price for Gamefroot is $7 per seat (student / person) for a three month period (a school term in New Zealand where we are based).
Our school already has a deal with Gamefroot. What does that mean for us?
If your organization or school has already come to another agreement with Gamefroot, please reach out to florencehb@gamefroot.com. Your original agreement will be honoured.
We use Gamefroot in our school, but we can’t afford this new rate.

Don’t worry. Your content is your content. Existing games will remain accessible in Gamefroot.
